This project explores the first four book cover designs for an ongoing fictional series on the twelve Olympian gods of ancient Greece. Each cover combines contemporary wordmark designs with custom line art illustrations, capturing what these deities represent in a modern visual language.
With these designs I wanted to avoid clichés and go contemporary while still respecting the source material. The result: bold, minimal covers where wordmarks and illustrations work together to reflect each god's unique character.
A wordmark (or logotype) is a distinct text-only typographic treatment of the name of a company, institution, or product name used for purposes of identification and branding. With the intention to promote name recognition.
Some famous wordmark examples are the logos of Coca Cola, Disney, Google and FedEx.
The 'Athena' and 'Zeus' wordmarks are featured in ‘LogoLounge 13: The World's Premier Logo Showcase’. Hera and Ares are more recent.
The 13th edition of the bestselling LogoLounge book series featuring the latest and greatest of identity design created by highly accomplished and noteworthy designers from all around the world. Carefully curated by an expert panel made up of some of the most revered names in the industry.
